You can read how it works on the official link above, but in essence it is an addictive community event that brings thousands of people together every Sunday morning to run or walk 5k… or to volunteer to make it happen in many locations around the world

Brilliant.

There are many reasons why it gets addictive, from simply meeting with friends, to exploring new locations, competing with yourself for a PB or chasing a long list of challenges. Completely useless, but you can get obsessed about them and the apps used to track them

My parkrun journey started when I was still a couple of weeks away from completing C25K. It was a gruelling ordeal… loved it 😊 When you cross that finish line just weeks after thinking you will never be able to run longer than 30 metres, a new world opens up for you

parkrun is a community event, the idea is great, but its success is only a result of the hard work and dedication of its thousands of volunteers and all of its great venues. Wether you always go back to your local or use parkrun as an excuse for exploring your local area, your country or the world, the whole movement is only the same of all of its individual events.

I have started this blog when I had already 90 events under my belt, but I promised myself I would write down my take-aways after each one going forward. You can find a list of the events I have ‘reviewed’ below:

Of course, parkrun is able to run and grow only because of the many people dedication their time to it for free every week, so we should not forget volunteering when talking about it!

It will quickly get addictive and sooner than you know you will be chasing your 50th, your 100th and celebrating parkrun anniversaries.
